beautiful stock pot, even cooking, nice fitting lid, wonderful coating, heirloom quality

I have only had experience with ceramic (enamel) cookware like this with my Le Creuset French onion soup pots (impressive) and my mother's Tramontina dutch oven (not impressive). I started with the 4qt FusionTec and then went and got this 7qt FusionTec too I was so impressed with the quality. This is a gorgeous stock pot! It is quite heavy for its size and has an amazing enamel coating. The handles are really ergonomic too and the lid fits really well. The heat distribution on the bottom is really excellent, it has cooked very evenly (I cook on electric just FYI). It holds heat really well also, so when I've had to walk back into he kitchen to get seconds on soup the soups have always still been super hot. I will be honest that I don't do much in the oven other than baked goods, so I can't attest to the "oven to table" nature of this pot, but I have used this pot to make several different soups so far (pelmeni, wild rice chicken vegetable, cream of asparagus, beef short rib vegetable with brown rice, and Italian wedding soup with hulled barley instead of acini de pepe)and it has been wonderful. The non-stick nature of the coating is great and has functioned as expected, anything left on the pan after cooking has washed right off with just hot water and a wipe, sometimes it has released with just a blast from the sprayer! We should be able to keep the non-stick property going strong for ever as we are very used to taking care of high quality ceramic in this kitchen. I love that this is made in Germany, I also love that there are no rivets on the interior! This pot reminds me a lot Le Creuset, I wonder if All Clad is trying to capture a piece of that market. I like that the edge is polished steel, this smaller 4 qt pot fits inside the 7 qt pot resting its handles on the steel edge not hurting any ceramic allowing me to use less space for storing the two pots. My husband was super impressed with the quality of this pot too and said that these All Clad FusionTec pots will be heirlooms and that our kids with use them, and I think he may be right. You do have to register your pot and it does have a lifetime warranty, so I am sure I will not ever be buying a new stock pot again, which if you think about it that way makes the money spent on this a good value.

Beautiful stockpot with performance to match

This is a large, heavy stockpot that is near or at the top of the price-range for this type of cookware as is common with the All-Clad brand. Part of that may just be the brand-name, but it's also because the brand carries a reputation for unbeatable quality that is certainly on display here. This pot has a ceramic coating on the inside and outside, offering a decent degree of non-stick without the downsides of teflon or other non-stick coatings. The steel core means it doesn't necessarily heat up as quickly as an aluminum core pot, but once it gets up to temp, it maintains the temp considerably better. It also means that it comes in heavier than other pots. The product description says the item weight is nearly 8lbs, and that sounds about right. Imagine holding a full gallon container of liquid and you've got the idea of the weight.I've used this pot for several uses so far. The product description states that it's ideal for liquid-based cooking, which is true, but it's not limited to only liquid-based cooking. I've done soups and stews (and will likely do more of this once we get into cooler weather during the fall and winter months), and I've braised meats. But, this also works for one of my absolute favorite simple snacks: stovetop popcorn. The heavy weight and even heating means that the kernels pop with few if any left unpopped at the bottom. At close to $400, this is an investment for sure. It's geared towards serious home cooks who feel reasonably sure that they have the chops in the kitchen to get some serious use out of such a fine piece of cookware. I'm a pretty confident home cook, and I have greatly enjoyed using this so far. I hope and suspect that with appropriate care, this stockpot will last for years to come. The ceramic coating seems durable, and time will tell if it's durable enough to be a solid value for the high price. As the product description states, this is also a beautiful piece that looks so nice as a serving dish (on a heavy-duty hot pad) once you're done cooking in it. It's easily a five-star product.

Fantastic pot, but a look at the warranty states the ceramic is not included in lifetime warranty.

Photo with soda can for scale. This is the sort of cookware that not only will last you a lifetime, but that you can pass down to the next generation IF you take good care of it.Handles are sturdy and big enough to hold without touching the side of the pot.It is a bit heavy, so if you struggle with that, be aware. It comes with a lifetime warranty (the card is in the box) as long as you buy it from an authorized seller. There are some exclusions, and one that concerns me is that “any glass or porcelain in the product” is not covered. I do also have some personal concerns because I have a friend who asked for warranty service on a nonstick frypan and they told her she could not get a replacement because she heated it too high. She only used it on a stovetop, so I do have concerns about warranty service. I think it is strange to offer a lifetime warranty on a nonstick pan, but they did, and then they backed out. I am taking one star for the fact that the ceramic on this pot is apparently not covered under warranty. For a pot this expensive, it should be.I like the ability to sear and brown in this pan. The heavy core makes heating on a gas stove very even. This is a great size for many uses.No rivets on the inside!Looks nice enough to put on the table.A few notes from the instruction booklet. It IS dishwasher safe. They tell you not to use electric beaters or sharp edges in the pan.Do not run cold water over a hot pan, may damage the ceramic coating. The handles can get hot (I found that they do, but not quickly, but you should use a potholder)
