Description

Product Description All-Clad 59915 Stainless Steel All-Purpose Steamer with Lid Cookware, Silver. Amazon.com Designed for the delicate timing and high heat demands of steam cooking, this All-Clad stainless-steel steamer nestles deep into cooking vessels. The tiered structure fits both 6- and 8-inch diameter pots and creates an ideal steaming environment for small and large quantities of vegetables, greens, and fresh shellfish. Crafted from heavy-gauge 18/10 stainless steel, the steamer is strong without clumsiness and is easily controlled by its two riveted side loop handles. Measuring 8-1/2 inches in diameter, the lid features a deep draw to keep steam from escaping and has a gleaming mirror finish to match the body. Both pieces are pretty enough to bring to the table--a rather unusual trait in steamers--and safe in the dishwasher. Measuring 8-1/4 inches in diameter at the opening, handles excluded, the steamer carries All-Clad's lifetime warranty. --Emily Bedard

I miss the old design

This steamer basket is overpriced, but it's the most used piece of equipment in my kitchen, so I recommend it wholeheartedly. And because it's not clad, it can go on the dishwasher. That being said, I miss the old design with the flat bottom that had more holes. The new design is fine. It fits more different sizes of pans. But I don't think it steams as evenly.

Perfect Steamer!

I have been using one of those fold up steamers forever. This is SO MUCH better! It fits any 6 or 8 inch wide pot, regardless of brand. The best thing is that is sits high above the pot so I can add a lot of water. With the fold ups, the legs are only about and inch from the bottom so I would often burn the bottom of the pan if the water boiled away. There are holes in the bottom, but not on the sides, so the steam is regulated and veggies come out less mushy. It can hold quite a bit and I anticipate using this a lot.

The perfect solution when you need a steamer that fits numerous pots.

I have a variety of pots and pans from a variety of manufacturers. There's no question that my All-Clad pieces have held up the best. Some of them are two decades old. I expect to have this steamer just as long--you can find it at my estate sale in 20-25 years. But the best thing about this steamer is that it fits at least five of my pots and functions perfectly on all of them. My favorite thing is to boil potatoes in the bottom pot while steaming corn on the cob in the steamer. If I had to be really picky, I'd say the only flaw (common among steamers) is that it needs a small hole in the lid to let off pressure and keep the lower pot from boiling over. Yes, the steamer fits that snugly on every pot I use it on. Definitely worth the price.

Great Steamer - Impressive Looking

I own it and love it. I purchased it in Sept of 2013, so I've had it for a while now and use it all the time. I have had no issues whatsoever with steaming vegetables, which is all I use it for. It still looks as good as new. I always hand wash it. It may be made in China, but the quality suits me just fine. It is heavy and sturdy and cleans up easily. The finish is flawless. The lid fits perfect - no rocking or other issues.I use it with the 3.5 qt sauce pot and it looks pretty impressive, I have to say. Nice looking set since they are both the same diameter, even their lids are interchangeable. I will eventually get a smaller All Clad sauce pot like a 2 qt to use it with. I can't say a single bad thing about it. Go for it.

All Clad Quality

So... Most folks would say your are nuts for spending the amount of money that All Clad charges for just one pot or pan. But then, these are also the folks who will spend $99 for a set of 10 pots and pans at a discount store and then end up replacing them often. They'll also complain because their food with cook unevenly, burn, the pans will warp, the handles become loose... well, you get the picture. When you buy All Clad, you are buying for life. Really! All Clad pots and pans have a lifetime warranty. Cook with them once and you'll wonder why you used anything else.Ina Garten said that she herself uses All Clad pots and pans and Wusthof knives. She noted they are expensive, but they really are a one-time purchase that lasts a lifetime. Even she suggested you can start small and add to your collection as your budget and needs allow. That's what I did and I have no regrets. All Clad heats evenly, is very solidly constructed and remember... If you ever have a problem, if anything fails, All Clad replaces it for you, for free, no questions asked. Who wouldn't like that? You cannot go wrong with an All Clad purchase. The stainless steel is dishwasher safe, cleans up easily and cooks like a dream. There is a reason this cookware is used in professional and high-end kitchens.Don't buy the cheap stuff any longer... Make the investment in quality. You'll be glad you did!

Fantastic gadget - takes longer to heat than an insert

I have looked at these for years, and wondered how an insert steamer would compare to the cheap aluminum leaf kind that we had used forever. I'm happy to report that this one is fantastic. It heats really fast and steams broccoli, green beans, carrots, etc. quite evenly. It fits both my all-clad 3 qt pot, and an old 2 qt revere ware saucepan quite nicely. It's great to be able to carry the whole thing to the table on a plate without having it fall over. I also use it as a collander. Well-made and worth the price of $55 that I paid. Note added November 2020: still have this. It is beautiful and functional. Only downside I have found is that it tales a LOT longer to heat up than the kind that you put inside a pot. Essentially you have to heat two heavy pots before steaming starts.

Fantastic Steamer! And GORGEOUS to look at as well...

Okay, I admit I have an All-Clad fetish after spending a small fortune on my Copper Core set, and a stainless non-stick skillet. So naturally I had to have this steamer insert as well. It looks just beautiful with the All-Clad pots, pretty enough to serve from at the table with company, and it performs MARVELOUSLY! Not a bit of steam escapes from either the connection at the pan, or from the steamer's lid. The food steams fast and furious and wonderfully--much better than with the old collapsible type steamer I used with my former Calphalon.I also like that the moment the food is done, I can toss directly into the steamer a little butter or oil and some salt, and mix it around with the veggies quickly and easily--which was NOT the case with the collapsible type steamers that had to be removed from the pan before anything could be done to them (usually burning at least one finger or thumb!)It fits my Copper Core 1.5 quart and 2 quart saucepans the best. It does fit the larger 4 quart saucepan as well, though the connection between the pot and steamer is not perfect--almost, but it does not seat perfectly as with the smaller saucepans, which if fine as they are all you need even even when steaming a large batch of veggies or clams in this steamer.Ahhh, I've reached steamer nirvana, at last...!Highly recommend this piece of All-Clad for a splurge--you're worth it!
