Feels like a professional, restaurant-grade waffle iron
UPDATE AFTER 5 YEARS: STILL a fantastic piece of equipment. Works perfectly, has not failed, has not broken, makes PERFECT waffles every time. By far our favorite kitchen appliance. Infinitely better than the cheap waffle makers. For the price, it will outlast every other waffle maker by far. THANK YOU for making such a terrific product.UPDATE: Still love it. Very robust, and despite my efforts, I have not been able to break it. Have made waffles for breakfast almost every day for a couple months now, and it's simply perfect. One word of caution... make certain it has almost completely stopped steaming before attempting to open, or you may pull the waffle apart (ask me know I know this). Otherwise, love it... may buy another just because.Used it for the first time today. Let it heat up for a bit to burn off the manufacturing residue, then cool, wipe it down with a damp cloth, then heat it back up for cooking. Used Kodiak Waffle Mix, exactly as directed (including 1 tbs safflower oil), and made the best waffles we've ever had. This is a heavy unit, all metal, and extremely well made. It won't slide around the counter, and it's well balanced and easy to open. Our thanks to the manufacturer, as we think this will last a lifetime. Going to buy one for our son and one for a parent. We've had other waffle makers, and they all fall apart after about 15-20 uses. Not this unit. Could easily be an heirloom piece. Thank you!!!

Everything you want, plus everything you need
-This waffle maker creates a traditional waffle pattern. The traditional waffle pattern has small pockets that allow more even syrup and butter distribution across the waffle than a Belgian waffle design.-Heavy duty plates absorb and retain heat to quickly make an entire batch of perfectly cooked waffles.-Controls are intuitive and easy to use. The knob is robust and easy to turn. You can trust the indicator light to accurately tell you when your waffle is done. No need to pop the lid and check the progress.-The fact that this makes one waffle at a time is a benefit. Double waffle makers give you poor results because they have to limit or alternate the power going to each side of the machine. A single waffle design maximizes the power of to the heating elements. Your waffles will be perfect, and they'll come out quicker.-We've cooked a bunch of different waffles so far, with great results each time. Traditional waffles (just add water mix), chocolate chip, and chocolate waffles with chocolate chips all turned out great. If you use a gluten free recipe, you'll probably want to increase the waffle maker doneness by 1-2 levels.-For an extra bonus, this waffle maker let you create toaster friendly freezer waffles. Just decrease the doneness by 1-2 levels. You can throw the left over waffles in the freezer or refrigerator. When you are ready to have one, just put it in the toaster and it comes out perfect.

Consistent results -- and fast too
I don't have much basis for comparison. My only other waffle maker cost $20, marked down to $10. It took a long time to heat up, the waffles were unevenly cooked, and there was no indicator to show that the waffles were ready -- you were supposed to watch to see that there was no steam coming out. In spite of these limitations, we decided we liked waffles enough, and made them often enough, to justify the extra expense of the All-Clad. This waffle maker overcomes the primary deficiencies of the first machine. It heats up quickly, makes waffles that are evenly cooked on both sides, and uniformly cooked across the surface. The waffles cook quickly, and there is a bell (or something) that rings when the waffle is ready. There is a dial that can be set to sound the alert based on your preference for lighter or darker. It has been completely reliable over about 8 months of moderate use.I have no idea what the inner workings are like, but the waffle iron is heavy and feels extremely solid. It has been easy to clean, with the usual caveats that it can't be immersed and I presume that eventually the non-stick coating will wear off. From my viewpoint there are two deficiencies, both fairly minor The alert to say that the waffles are ready is high pitched and soft. Since generally develop a high frequency hearing loss with age, many of us have to devote full attention to the waffle maker and can't have a radio in the background or carry on a conversation -- we have to listen for thge alarm. Also, although the waffle maker is designed so that the cord can be wound around the base during storage, there is no clip for the cord, so it may be necessary to resort to a twist closure or rubber band.Other than a waffle maker with a larger surface, or one of the waffle makers that can make two waffles at the same time, I suspect this is about as good as it gets.
This is the perfect waffle iron!
Waffle irons are all pretty simple the way they are made and most all of them do a good job making waffles. This All-Clad waffle maker is special to me because it reminds me of the old square Sunbeam waffle maker our family had when I was just a kid. I especially like the size of this one and with its specially made feet; it lays flat on the counter or stands upright against the wall. Most important of all, a novice (and I do mean novice!) cook like me, waffles come out perfectly every time. It's easy to regulate the temperature, although I only had to pretty much set it and just leave it at the same setting. That's one of the things that makes using it so easy to get those perfect waffles every time. I also like the size of the round waffles, because they fit perfectly on the plate. As you might expect from All-Clad, this well-constructed waffle maker is of heavy steel with a non-stick waffle surface. I know that I will pass this on in the family because it will last forever!
