A very good countertop oven
I have been using my new oven over the holidays. I'm very happy with the final results of everything that I have baked in it. It does give the results I want and I'm pleased. I do think that this oven is noisy! In addition, it's annoying that the oven light does not stay on when pressed. Because some items can overbake within seconds, the light is constantly being pressed to check for browning. Finally, I do think this oven is overpriced. I'm happy with it, but can't figure out why these components + labor + shipping total almost $400!

Bakes Better Than My New Top of the Line Oven
My husband and I are thrilled with this oven. We had a Cuisinart countertop connection oven that would hardly toast on the highest setting and it would only brown the top of the bread. This oven toasts evenly on the 3 setting. I bake a lot and did an experiment today. I made some of the bialys in my oven, in which I have 4 baking steels, and the rest in the Calphalon countertop. Both were set for the same temperature and time. The Calphalon oven baked perfectly and the bottoms were golden brown. The bialys baked in the regular oven were pale underneath.My only complaint is that although I clean it after every use, the roof of the oven already has burnt on brown discoloration. I tried baking soda and vinegar and Barkeeper's Friend and even a fine steel wool and the stains won't budge. Any suggestion would be welcome. I really want this stay clean.

All the features work great except the air fryer. I had a ninja air fry that was great and would cook items fast. This air fryer amount of time was the same as using an oven.

LOVE LOVE this little oven! We are doing a remodel and I needed to choose one thing to have to make meals for the next few months... and two weeks in, I am in LOVE with this little machine. Am new to the air fryer cooking process but this item seems to do it well, and the other selections (broil, toast, bake etc) so far have performed equally as well. The feature I like best is that it does not heat up the kitchen like the old toaster oven. Exterior stays cool, is fairly quiet and works well for my needs and I am satisfied with the quality of the unit, solid materials that seem sturdy to last a while. I recommend this product.

Got error code E02 Thermal Controller Malfunction second time it was used
Bought this toaster/oven air fryer specifically for Thanksgiving meal prep. Used it once to test. Second time to toast bagel, it stopped and gave an error code E02 Thermal Controller Malfunction.First went to Calphalon manufacture number. Said 8-5 M-F eastern time. Answering machine said the same. Nope... they open at 9:00. Told them the problem, she assured me it would be resolved quickly. Nope...crickets for three days, so I went on Amazon and returned it.Amazon was amazing; gave me a Qr code so I took it to UPS store. Got the refund the next day.
Cool on the outside
I bought this oven because it is insulated to keep the exterior cool. It did mot disappoint! In the hot desert it is crucial and I am thrilled to be able to turn it on this summer.The size is great for a second oven and fits decently on the countertop but I would prefer it smaller.The temp also measures lower overall but manageable. My others all run too hot (Cuisinart and Black & Decker).Only toast, bake, and defrost modes tested so far. Defrosted a tri-tip in 2 hours. Much better results than microwave.Worth the extra cost to be able to cook in summer!
