Worth The Price!
This kettle is more expensive than the average stainless steel kettle but it is worth it. We have had so much trouble with kettles pitting and having to throw them out. I believe this kettle will last for many years.

Lovely tea kettle
even my husband liked it and he uses the kettle more than I. Looks a lot better than our last one and it is so attractive we want to keep it that way.

Disappointed.
You think after spending such a large sum of money on an item, it would be perfect upon opening. Unfortunately, this kettle had a rather large chunk of the red enamel scraped off the side of it.Now, time to deal with the hassle of trying to return it. So far, not impressed.*UPDATE* Amazon did send me a replacement (the company’s customer service is horrible). However, after using it for 13 days and following the care instructions very carefully, there is a chunk of the enamel that has chipped off at the base in almost the exact same spot as the chip in the original kettle. I believe this is a factory defect, and the company is ignoring it. No flaking has occurred so far on the inside of the kettle. So if you are fine with paying a ton of money for an imperfect exterior, then I guess buy this product. Looking back, it wasn’t worth it to me.

This is a beautiful tea kettle. It is well shaped with brilliant color and shine.
This is my third Le Creuset Enamel tea kettle. I would say it is about a medium-sized capacity; it holds enough water to fill 5 8-ounce cups of water. It is not one that will maintain heat for long periods and is not for the "heavy handed." In other words, this kettle will not take a lot of abuse. It is enamel and can chip. If you are going to purchase this item, here are some important things to keep in mind. First, don't allow the water to boil out of the kettle. The kettle will overheat and and melt the emblem. Second, avoid storing water in the kettle for long periods. Rust will form in the holes that are just below the spout (on the inside of the kettle). After using, the kettle, allow it to cool. Then, pour out any remaining water and dry it. If I'm short on time, I will remove the lid and let it air dry. However, I don't do this often. It is best to thoroughly dry it. Sadly, I've done all of these things, yet I still like this little tea kettle. If you carefully follow these tips, your tea kettle will last longer than mine :-).

Great product!
It may be pricey, but this kettle works like a champ, maintains heat well after being taken off a burner, and looks great to boot. It's a quality product you'll use for many years, well worth the up-front cost.

A Timeless Design For A Great Tea Kettle
My wife has used a red KitchenAid whistling tea kettle for years. She realized a few weeks ago that it was worn out inside and out to the point where it was no longer usable. She knew that she wanted another brand and another color. Through our mutual research we settled on this Le Creuset in Marseille Blue. This is a classic, timeless design. It looks like it could have been made almost 100 years ago (except for the plastic parts, of course). This tea kettle looks beautiful on our stove top, and the color really pops.At 1.7 qts. it has a slightly smaller capacity than the KitchenAid. But my wife gets about 5-6 cups of tea per kettle with about 6-8 oz pours per cup. That's more than enough. What we both love about this tea kettle is that the whistle is plenty loud for us to hear in other rooms, and the water pours out hot and stays hot in the tea cup for a good amount of time. This Le Creuset may be a bit pricey but the cost is worth it. This thing is built to last, maybe even for the next 100 years.

Come on people! Read the care instructions!
I'm compelled to write a review because most of the negative feedback comes out of ignorance and not reading the care directions.I drink tea three times a day. This is my second La Cruset in ten years. I have also owned Chantal Kettles. They are equally brilliant and I would recommend them as well, but for slightly different reasons.Major complaints usually consist of 1)Dripping/spitting water 2)Melting plastic spout 3)Black film on the inside after several years. 4) Oxidation/Rust on the insides and at joints1) The spitting is simple. Don't overfill the kettle past the two holes on the inside. This is stated clearly in the directions. This causes pressure within the spout resulting in a steaming, spitting mess. The same thing will occur with 99.9% of other kettles.2)Melting Plastic Spout- Everyone who had this problem also disclosed they were using a gas stove. So this is a pretty easy fix. Stop turning up the flame past the circumference of the kettle's bottom surface. (Look at the review above mine in chronological order. They have a video. That is what you should never do.) High flames do not heat up the water any faster and you will preserve your kettle for years to come. When material is exposed to an open flame, the material usually gets damaged! This is basic 8th grade physical science?3)The Black film is caused from two things a) Mineral deposits over time from your water. b) Enamel Film that has been painted on. I don't know which it is for this kettle. Given the price, I hope it is not the second.4) Rust is natural for any teapot and will not harm your tea or hurt your health. Many tea enthusiasts encourage it for flavor. The most common cause for rust is your water supply and not the tea kettle itself. If you have a high sodium content in your water, then your teapot will rust very quickly, possibly in a few weeks. If you have softer water, it may take several years. The best thing to do is wash them every day and dry them out thoroughly. Never leave water or moisture in your kettle. This is made clear in the directions. This is a durable kettle with a beautiful aesthetic. My only complaint is I wish it came in all metal and did not have plastic accents on the spout, handle and top. However, the plastic is very durable and my complaint is no more than a personal preference. That being said, this is still my favorite kettle of all time. It is gorgeous and provides a conversation piece in the kitchen. I enthusiastically recommend it to anyone.
Quality build.
Works well on an induction stove. Thick steel with a heavy-duty handle. Should last decades..
