I purchased this brazier as a new item and was sent a retaped box with a poorly packed item. There were scratches all around the lip of the lid. I did not get the option of replacement since I got it at a percentage off so I sent it back. Too much damage for the prize. I have purchased Le Crueset before and arrived in great shape.

Packaging needs improvement!
Le Creuset packaging to protect the lid from scratching is minimal at best. The 4 plastic clips all fell off. There is no full coverage to protect the lid. Mine arrived with a small scratch on the rim. I'll keep this for not wanting yo risk a replacement possibly having worse damage to the top of the lid. For a high-end product I expect they spend more careful thought on their cardboard. I haven't cooked with it yet but the olive branch pattern is beautiful.

Looks like possibly a returned product sent to me as “new.” Scratches and chipping on knob and lid especially. A very poor reflection of Le Creuset products. Additionally, I found it to not have enough surface area for my needs. Returned and bought a 5 qt Le Creuset braiser through Crate and Barrel that is flawless and has just the right surface area. Both sizes are quite heavy, so bear that in mind, but if you need space for meat, veggies, have a large family or like to meal prep, I think it’s worth getting a 5 qt. I fell for the Olive design on this 3.5, but for better durability and to lessen chances of being sent a braiser with a lid that is all scratched up, I think it’s wiser to avoid anything with a raised design. Beautiful in theory, but I was left very disappointed in it.

Scratched on arrival
I have many Le Creuset cast iron pieces in my home which have consistently performed well and have been easy to clean. I have ordered the Olive Branch 3.5 quart braiser now 4 times: 3 from Amazon, 1 from a high-end kitchen supply store. All have arrived with multiple scratches around the exterior periphery of the lid. It appears that Le Creuset has changed its packaging. Previously, all of my cast iron purchases arrived with a full sheet of cardboard protecting the inverted lid nested in the base. With the 4 braisers, there has been only a thin piece of cardboard cut to allow it to flex and fit inside the base leaving the plastic guards for the rim of the braiser to provide the only protection for the lid. In all 4 cases, the plastic guards have been dislodged in trasport to move freely about the box allowing the lid to make repeated contact with the upper rim of the base resulting in multiple scratches. I feel the fault lies with Le Creuset, not with Amazon or the other vendor that I used, as the plastic guards do not make a snug fit on the rim. Maybe that's acceptable to some customers, but I do not want to spend hundreds of dollars for a braiser that is blemished on arrival. Looking past the damage, the Olive Branch 3.5 quart Braiser is beautiful in artichaut and comfortable to lift with the larger Signature handles. Based on my previous use of Le Creuset cast iron, I feel sure it will not disappoint in performance. I am removing a star for poor packaging.

I've received many compliments on how beautiful it looks when I serve meals in it. The lid is gorgeous and keeps food warm! Cleans easy and read instructions because these are heirloom products and worth every penny!
