Not worth $80

This was a surprise gift for my wife. Cool old school looking design, pretty color, boils water…. NOT worth the $80 I paid for it….. Thats about it.Very small (yes I understand that it tells you how much water it holds) but it is an underwhelming small size. From the pictures it looks to be some sort of ceramic or stone wear or something heavy duty. Its not. Its regular painted metal and it came with a dent in it.***Update*** I switched from 2 stars to 1. I moved the kettle off of my glass stove top to wipe the stove surface down. I accidentally nicked the bottom of the kettle on the corner of the glass stove top……. The glass stove top won and the kettle now has a slight dent in the bottom with a chunk of paint missing. (Pictures attached) The kettle nor the stove top was hot or warm in any way. Very disappointed in the quality of this tea kettle. I do not recommend purchasing this.

Make sure you put it on a smaller stovetop eye so that the flame doesn’t come up around the sides.

Excelente producto de una prestigiosa marca. Me encanta tanto el diseño como el color azul Marseille. Realmente bonita. Se aprecia una excelente calidad tanto en los materiales como en los acabados. La compre en los Estados Unidos porque actualmente en Europa solo esta disponible en pocos colores. La capacidad es ideal para alguien que como nosotros hacemos únicamente dos tazas de te al día de 33cl y queremos algo que no ocupe demasiado espacio en la cocina, por lo que el mango plegable unida a sus dimensiones la hace perfecta.

Adorable and upright

I had the larger size kettle by Le Creuset and it was wonderful, even after the whistle was lost. Finally, a guest ruined it by leaving it on the stove too long. I suppose they were waiting for the whistle to sound? -- But anyway, that then, this is now.This smaller kettle is ideal for us since we have down-sized and have a smaller stove. Being more vertically designed, this kettle fits small spaces well. I love the blue color, and the enamel. It's only issue is, of all things, the whistle! The spring steel which should hold the whistle in place keeps working its way out of its holder, meaning that the whistle doesn't work so well. I expect that soon the plastic will break and the metal pin will fall out altogether.Perhaps Le Creuset has a nasty plan to ruin more kettles through over-heating, by making faulty whistles? I doubt it, but I do wonder. Anyway- I heartily recommend this kettle, but watch the whistle!

Excellent choice for induction cooktops

I recently purchased a new slide in range with an induction cooktop. Most of my cookware was compatible but I needed to replace a copper bottomed tea kettle. Since it’s for my mom who is older. I didn’t want something heavy. This is the perfect size for an individual or up to two people using a tea kettle daily. On an induction cooktop it heats very rapidly. It also looks great.

This is the best teapot! It heats up so quickly! It pours beautiful. We got the marseille blue. The color is stunning! So happy with it. And it looks so cute on the stove. It works very well. Handle is nice. A bit smaller than I had imagined but it still holds a good 4 cups of tea.

Blue kettle is bright and cheery, perfect for a small apartment

I bought this kettle as a gift for my sister. It's lovely, and the Marseille blue is a nice bright color (as pictured). The handle is nice and firm so it doesn't swing around when you're trying to pour, and stays completely cool. It is a smaller kettle...the instructions say not to fill passed the dots/fill line, which means it doesn't hold much, but it's enough for two or three big mugs of tea. If you fill passed the dots, water will sputter out the spout and the whistle won't work, but that's why you follow the instructions. Overall, perfect for her needs on a small stove in a small kitchen. I might order the larger size for myself!

Overpriced -- and Worth Every Penny !!

Great little tea kettle. The enamel coating makes it easy to clean and prevents the rust that develops in the seams of cheap metal kettles. (As the instructions note, and as is true of all enameled cookware, you do need to be sure not to heat this when empty, or let it boil dry: scorch that enamel and there's no way to repair it.) The handle is high enough to allow access to the lid while the handle remains upright, but you can fold the handle down if you must -- it just takes a little force to do so, which is nice since it prevents the handle from falling over by itself toward the heat of the stove. The whistle, in order to be effective, requires you to put the lid on securely after filling the kettle with water, which also takes a bit of elbow grease -- but if the lid is on there cock-eyed, the steam will escape through that gap before building enough pressure to activate the whistle. Le Creuset, always the gold standard in cookware with its enamel-on-cast iron products, has equaled that quality with this enamel-on-steel kettle, at lower weight than cast iron. Plus, it's just incredibly beautiful -- I'd leave it out on the stovetop all the time even if I didn't use it, just so I could look at it every day.
