The advertised volume of 2.2 quarts fills it to the top rim so that the actual cooking capacity is only about 1 quart or 1 liter if you use the LeCreuset cover.

Le Creuset quality - so worth it!
This thing seems expensive but because my kitchen is equipped with several other pots and pans of this brand I thought I give it a try. I was not disappointed! Excellent quality and due to the relatively thin metal, the ingredients melt VERY quickly. No fear of lousy Chinese "stainless" leaking chemicals into my culinary creations. I use it mostly to make my own chocolate.
