Beautiful-and-interetsing shape
This is a beautiful spoon. It's well made and comes with lovely canvas-bag packaging that would make this a good housewarming present or gift for anyone who enjoys cooking. The shape is interesting (photo of spoon's backside and canvas bag are attached). Not only is the bowl not symmetrical (it's designed for stirring with one's right hand), but the handle itself is a triangular shape that feels surprisingly comfortable in a penholder grip when stirring or mixingOf course, as with any wooden implement, the spoon should not be run through the dishwasher, nor should it be allowed to soak in the dishpan. The spoon would also benefit from a time-to-time coating with mineral oil or food-grade spoon oil mix (e.g., 2/3 mineral oil, 1/3 beeswax CAREFULLY melted-and-blended together). But these are procedures to be followed with all wooden kitchen implements and cutting boards.To conclude, this is a beautiful-and-interesting spoon. This is an easy item to highly recommend for anyone (or as a present for anyone) who enjoys cooking and playing in the kitchen.

Update: After washing it once used, the wood does seem to be a bit more rough (washed with care, and as a chef I would never think of letting this sit in water, soak it, or put in the dishwasher). I think this really could use a finer sanding and possible cuttingboard oil treatment. I received a set of wooden spoons and spatulas made from a different company, and after comparing the two, I could not stand by a 5 star rating for this. The quality did not compare. The other was so well made and deserving of 5 stars, that to give both the same rating when the complete set showed this one up, would not be just). I still really like this - a lot - and stand by everything else I said, but have come to see this in the 4 star category instead.This is a really nice, what looks to be, hand carved, spoon. Very nicely made, sturdy, smooth, and all around lovely. I’m Italian, and needed a new wooden spoon for sauce. This fits the bill perfectly. Definitely a hand wash item, as is any wooden kitchen item. There are no negatives to it whatsoever up to this point, although I do so wish they made a left handed one as well ( the bowl of the spoon is curved for a right handed person). Still it’s a quality item made with love and it shows. Recommend! Your sauce will thank you:)
