Better then expected
The magnets are pretty strong. This is a bit pricey compared to other Knife blocks but the quality is high. I've had knives fall off other blocks before but this has really good Magnets. 8 knife capacity because there seems to be 4 magnet strips inside. Would purchase again.

Nice Design Excellent Workmanship Strong Magnet
Great addition to any kitchen that has quality knives to display without drilling into the wall. Looks good too!

An attractive and well-made, if impractical in some ways, option for knife storage
Knife blocks are so out, magnets are way cooler. Whether it's a strip along the wall or, like this, a block. I'm vaguely familiar with the "Made In" brand and have heard good things, so let's see what this is about.Unboxing, it's definitely a nice build, clean lines, attractive grain, simple and dignified. Playing around with a narrow, long utility knife, I was able to suss out that it has two closely placed rows (about an inch apart) running just below the top edge, then a third row set about 3-4 inches further down. Each row has 4 magnets, so you are getting 8 blades on here, tops. The arrangement and strength of the magnets held even my largest chef's knife relatively firmly, smaller knives were extremely secure. The finish seems easy enough to wipe down, but I'm not even sure how you'd get it messy, I guess random kitchen splashes or something. So, here's the caveat: Where do you put it? You'll want to reach both sides of it, and you're not going to want it too close to your sink or stovetop. Unlike a wall strip, it's not really out of the way, unlike a knife block you can't stick it in a corner or up against a wall. So, if you have an island or something where you can set it that it is accessible but not in the way, it's a great little piece. But definitely a consideration before just snagging it for the looks.

Reliable, aesthetic, and solid.
I've been looking to find a magnetic knife block to replace my classic style wood block (angled with knife slots). As mounting a magnetic strip to the wall wasn't an option, I decided to look into some different high-quality variations that were available. One of the two finalists was a stylish angled magnetic block (brand starts with Oz-) made up of multiple forward-angled wood levels. It had room to hold a couple more knives, but took up considerably more counter space. It also was a bit front-heavy, allowing it to fall forward with minor pressure. Its magnets were also stronger - too strong, in fact, as they pulled the knife edge against the wood veneer. Though it advertised the top-most level as being functional for tablets or cookbooks, I found it too bulky to shift and move in order to use the space for anything other than additional knives. Also, due to the angled design, the flat levels weren't long enough for half my knives. It's been retained as a backup storage option for steak knives and smaller, older blades. As the winner of my search, this Made In Cookware block was ultimately more pleasing to the eye and had slightly gentler magnets. While I've had no issues thus far with knives staying in place, I would have liked to see the magnets be a tiny bit stronger. Generally, they're plenty strong so long as your knives have a flat bolster that can rest at the top edge. If the bolster is curved or the knife is thicker, you may run into issues. I have a stylishly curved paring knife that I have to angle a bit precariously to rest on the block. The magnets in this block seemed a bit small, arranged in pairs (one near top, another about halfway down) in four vertical columns and allows for four knives per side (8 total). I would have liked to see 3 magnetic strips running parallel from the top edge along the long flat sides of the block. As I have multiple styles and sizes of knives, this would have allowed me to make better use of the space, and offered a couple spots for additional knives to rest perpendicular at the bottom (e.g., cleaver or slender utility knife). Given the existing magnet arrangement, some of my knives won't have a home on it.Even so - this block is a pleasure to see on the counter, uses only a bit more space than my previous angled block, yet still manages to be less imposing due to the shape and arrangement. It's also very stable and solid - both a huge plus in my experience. The weighted and non-slip base offers peace-of-mind. And let's not ignore how easy it is to clean!Overall a very positive experience. Highly recommended.

Better than a knife block
The look of this magnetic knife block is minimalistic and clean. I love the way it looks on my counter. It's practical, too, as I can see each knife that I'm pulling off, and it works with all my knives of different brands and sizes. When I pull off a knife, it doesn't budge due to its heavy base. My only complaint is that you can't stick a knife on horizontally-there aren't magnets on the edges so it doesn't give a strong enough hold.
Holds 8 knives max. Poor design!
Well I thought I could add another one or two small knives, but nope, the way the magnets are positioned, which are individually placed BTW, it only allows for 4 knives per side. And if a knife isn’t directly over the magnet, what happens? It falls off! That’s right, adding a knife requires precision alignment. Otherwise your Damascus steel knife drops onto your countertop.Want to attach fancy Japanese scissors? Forget about it. These magnets are not that strong for anything that heavy or not shaped like a knife. For $129, why the heck can’t they just use strips of magnets instead of magnet blocks? That would solve everything. Honestly, I DON’T even care about the price, I just want something large enough to hold 10 knives, and ideally, the knife sharpner tool. Is that too much to ask for? Apparently so. Looks like it will require an another $129 to solve something that should have never been a problem to begin with.Overall disappointed with this overly priced product. The good? Well it is sturdy and won’t tip. That’s table stakes of course. I mean, obviously it shouldn’t tip over, but this is the best thing I can say about it right now. Maybe after I use it for a while I’ll find other positive things to say.If it cost $40 I’d have lower expectations. But this is one of the MOST expensive magnetic knife holders available, so why can’t Made In just get it right?
