Pinholes and pits outside the beauty marks
I am surprised with the number of rave reviews. I am also surprised with the number of people accepting the defects in the dishes outside of the beauty marks.Every SINGLE piece has multiple pinholes and pits in the finish outside of the beauty marks. Totally disappointing since I was looking forward to obtaining this set.I have other Made In products that are outstanding in quality, but I do not recommend this product.

As basic as these dishes are, they are beautiful. I love simple things, and I appreciate the workmanship, the craftsmanship on these dishes. I can see why they are somewhat pricey, and they are worth it. You get the entire place setting which includes the flatware. All pieces clean easily, and they are just simple and elegant. These dishes are made to endure an industrial/commercial kitchen. It even comes with a 1-year chip warranty. Who does that? This set is the "good" set of dishes, that can be used everyday. I recommend them.

Made In Cookware - 37-piece Plateware and Flatware Set (blue rim)The plateware and flatware arrived in a branded box in case you are gifting the set. It’s a heavy box but the plateware was very well protected. Each set (4 dinner plates, 4 appetizer plates, 4 entrée bowls, 4 side bowls, 1 serving platter, and the 20-pieces of flatware) was packed in its own box inside the large box.The plateware is beautiful. We are fans of their classic, simple elegance (they will let the food shine), their sturdiness, and their colored rims. The blue rim was the one aspect I wasn’t totally sure of because our old plates are all off-white, but the colored rims are a very dark navy (almost black), so in my opinion they add just the right amount of contrast to make the plates more interesting. A simple “Made in England” is on the back.We like the size of all the plateware. The entrée bowls are the standout, but we have used everything except the platter and found them all to be perfectly sized for us. Our old entrée and appetizer plates are a bit larger, but both have wide edge embellishments that took up all that extra room (and a little more space in the cupboard). All the sets stack well.The feel of the plateware is fabulous and I’m still finding myself surprised by it. Each smooth piece has some weight to it, and the glazing (the entire plate, front and back) is glossy and thick. We have run them through our dishwasher, have hand washed several a couple times, and have microwaved once: no issues. The plates are also freezer and oven safe (up to 570 degrees, but I don’t plan on going up that high). There are several small marks on the backs of each plate due to the manufacturing process. Nothing glaring on our plates and the tops don’t have any marks.The flatware is mirror polished, unlike our old matte stainless steel utensils, so that’s going to take a little time for me to get used to. They have a great mouthfeel (they feel glossy/smooth); another pleasant surprise. These utensils are beautiful with the same simple, classic lines that our old set had. The only embellishment is a small “18-10 Italy” under the tines of the forks and on the spoons, and a rounded line on their backs. The tines on the forks are noticeably longer than our old ones, but the sizes are otherwise similar. The knives are one piece so are very solid and they cut well. The “made in” statement is visible on the knives but is subtly on the back of the forks and spoons. Each piece feels balanced to me, with a good fit and feel in the hand.This is a beautiful set of plateware and flatware that should last. The only con I can think of is that, as of now, items (other than the large platter) are only sold in sets of 4 (4 place settings for the flatware). The other consideration is of course the price, but plates and utensils are used multiple times every day, so I believe they are one of those things where quality is well worth it considering how often they will be used.

Beautiful In Their Simplicity And High Quality!
The first thing that's worth noting is the packaging. Probably some of the best packaging I have seen and everything arrived intact with no chips, cracks or broken pieces. So if shipping concerns you about ordering these online you need not worry. This is a high quality plate ware and flat ware set. The plate ware is made in England and the flat ware comes from Italy. The plate ware is quite sturdy and seems it should stand up to everyday use in your home or even a restaurant setting. They are simple in appearance as they are plain white with a blue rim. They do carry a certain elegance and the quality is evident. The manufacturing is consistent without any noticeable manufacturing variants between any of the pieces.The flat ware is equally simple and elegant. Each individual piece carries a bit of weight in your hand which notes the quality. They are highly polished stainless steel and are made in Italy. The only thing I did not like is the handle gets very narrow just an inch or two from the top making them a bit awkward to grip as there isn't much to grip onto once you move past the flared top. A minor thing but I noticed it.Now finally the price point of this set. Many are going to feel that $499 for a place setting of four is quite expensive and I agree. That makes each setting a $125 setting. I feel this is a personal decision as to whether you feel or not that the value is there. This set has evident quality and will certainly impress any guest you serve with them. I am looking forward to putting them into daily service in our house.

They say you get what you pay for and this set of simple and elegant dishes and flatware from Made in is no exception. We got this set to match the blue accents in our new home and they are just beautiful! The plates themselves are simple with clean lines. The flatware has a nice finish and feel. We really like the look and feel of this set and like the Made in products. Highly recommend this set!
